Landskapes and Water

François Décorchemont
Paysages et cours d’eau (Landscapes and Water)
The Local Conches Museum
1 June – 29 September 2013
Very well known for his works in pâte de verre as well as his stained glass windows that can be seen in many churches in our department of Eure, François Décorchement (1880-1971) is much less recognised for his paintings. This artist, however, throughout his entire life, painted landscapes, still lifes and portraits where, as in his glass work, you can notice his keen eye for light as well as colours. In the framework of the second Norman Impressionist Festival, the Local Conches Museum will present a selection of forty paintings of the Norman countryside and bodies of water in the Eure department.

Winners from the 2012 Biennail Show

House of the Arts (Maison des Arts)
Winners from the 2012 Biennial Show
The town of Conches and the House of the Arts are pleased to present this show with the eight winners of the 2012 Biennial Contest.
This is the third time the jury has awarded artists: in the 2008 edition of the Biennial, the Commissionaires decided to honour four painters and four sculptors amongst those who had been selected to show their work, and not just one artist, as in the past. This formula has now been tried and tested, and has confirmed its success, both from the point of view of the public, as well as that of the artists.
Vladimir Zbynovsky, Glass Museum
Vladimir Zbynovsky creates pieces of art that often associate glass and stone. When he sculpts these materials, he explores thresholds that come to life as soon as they are exposed to light and asks questions about time, memory, what is considered to be sacred and how this is perceived. Progressively, this sculptural approach led him to think about glass in a more conceptual manner, as a shield and forwarding area capable of changing our environment.
